Diablos Come From Behind

Posted By: AdrianaR on 5/21/2010

May 21, 2010 Shreveport, LA – The El Paso Diablos got back to their winning ways, by gaining a big 6-4 come from
behind victory over the Shreveport-Bossier Captains at Fair Grounds Field on Friday night.  Trailing by one in the
ninth the Diablos pushed across three runs to earn the win and end their three game losing streak.

Shaun Ellis made a fantastic start for the Diablos going eight strong innings to earn the win.  After allowing
four runs over the first two innings, Ellis (2-0) settled down to shut down the Captains on just three hits over
the next six innings.  On the night Ellis allowed eight hits and three walks while striking out eight.  He gave
way to P.J. Bevis in the ninth who came in and allowed one hit but no runs to earn his third save of the season.

El Paso had to climb out of a deep hole to earn the win.  Three batters into the game, the Captains had already
claimed a 3-0 lead on a Chris Garcia three run home run.  They added one more run in the second but that was all
of their scoring.  The Diablos finally got the offense going in the sixth inning when they pushed across three runs highlighted by a J.D. Reininger two RBI double.  The Diablos then waited until the bottom of the ninth to strike again.  A Matt Imwalle home run tied the game to lead off the inning.  The Diablos got their go ahead run off the bat of Jonathan Reynoso who burned his former team for an RBI double scoring Hector Bernal.  The final run came in to score on a Captains throwing error.

The Diablos out hit the Captains 12-7 and were led by Jeff Vincent and Arnoldo Ponce who both went 2-5 on the night.
Mike Provencer and Juan Medina both got in on the fun going 2-4 on the night.

The Diablos head back to the diamond on Saturday night.  They will send Amad Stephens (0-1) to the mound against
the Captains Chad Linder (0-1).  First pitch is slated for 6:05 and can be heard on ESPN radio 1380 or on line at
