The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that El Paso Diablos RHP Scott Hodsdon has been named the Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for August. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

The El Paso Diablos were coming off a controversial loss and were looking for a split in the series. The Diablos came out swinging as they scored five runs in the first inning en route to a 14-2 victory Tuesday night at Cohen Stadium.

The El Paso Diablos had a one-run lead heading into the top of the ninth inning, but after an error by left fielder Brian Joynt it allowed Wichita to tie the game. Two batters later Bellorin hit a ball to left field that was ruled a catch that was later overturned to a trap to give the Wingnuts a 7-6 victory Monday night at Cohen Stadium.

The El Paso Diablos were coming off a lopsided loss at the hands of the Wichita Wingnuts and they got off to another slow start, but timely hitting and perseverance on the mound help the Diablos hold off the Wingnuts to a 3-2 victory Sunday night at Cohen Stadium.

The Wichita Wingnuts scored in every inning but 3 tonight in a 19-2 rout of the El Paso Diablos. The Diablos finally strung together 4 hits and 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to avoid the shutout.

The El Paso Diablos came into the game looking to earn a split in the series against Fort Worth and the Diablos had their opportunities in the game as the victory was in their grasp, but mental mistakes on the base paths ended their hopes as they fell 4-3 Friday night at LaGrave Field.

The El Paso Diablos were on top of the Cats 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but Fort Worth responded as they scored the last eight runs of the game including five in the seventh inning to give them a 11-4 victory Thursday night at LaGrave Field.

The Diablos headed into Wednesday’s game on a three game losing streak with seven games left in the season and starting pitcher Scott Hodsdon continued his pitching performance as he threw his third complete game as the Diablos won 6-1 at LaGrave Field.

The El Paso Diablos were looking to end their two-game losing streak as they headed to Fort Worth to take on the Cats who had lost their last three games, but Fort Worth scored early and often as they blew by the Diablos 12-3 Tuesday night at LaGrave Field.
