EL PASO-The El Paso Diablos have announced today that they are not renewing Butch Henry’s contract, and are naming Jorge Alvarez as the new Diablos field manager for the 2011 season.

The Wichita Wingnuts did everything they could do to try and extend their season as they beat the Diablos 4-2 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Sunday night. Unfortunately for the Wingnuts it ended up being the season finale for them and El Paso. Wichita will miss out on the playoffs because Sioux Falls was able to win their game which officially eliminated the Wingnuts.

After a less than stellar effort in game one, Wichita responded in a big way and thumped the Diablos 16-2 on Saturday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. The Wingnuts scored early and often opening the night with a five run inning and left El Paso in the dust. They still have a chance to get a playoff spot, but need a win on Sunday and a Sioux Falls loss.

El Paso was a team with nothing to lose playing a team with everything to lose and it was the team that had nothing to lose who handed the Wichita Wingnuts a tough 10-4 loss at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Friday night. El Paso simply outplayed the Wingnuts from the hitting to the pitching. The loss will drop Wichita two games back in the division with just two games to play.

The El Paso Diablos dropped their home finale 2-0 to the Shreveport-Bossier Captains at Cohen Stadium on Thursday night. The game was a very quick game played in just two hours and 12 minutes. It featured just 12 hits between the two teams. El Paso goes just 1-5 on their final home stand of the season.

El Paso missed out on a lot of big chances to get runs and in the end fell 4-3 to the Shreveport-Bossier Captains at Cohen Stadium on Wednesday night. The difference was one unearned run in the eighth inning as El Paso is now just 2-10 this season when the game is tied going into the seventh. It is El Paso’s third straight loss and they are now just 1-4 on the home stand.
